Start with SCFM, not tank size
The useful input is the tool's air requirement during use. A compressor and a hose may both have impressive maximum PSI numbers while the path still restricts the flow needed by a sander, spray gun or impact tool.
Inside diameter is not the fitting thread
A 1/4 inch NPT connection does not prove a 1/4 inch hose bore. Read the hose ID separately. The published reference table distinguishes 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4 and 1 inch bores.
Add reel, whip and extension length
The run is the air path from supply to tool. The selection guide says its capacities assume straight, clean, new hose and a 5 PSI pressure-drop limit at 100 PSIG. Real fittings and restrictions can reduce what reaches the tool.
Treat no match as a useful answer
If the checker reports that demand exceeds the reference capacity, do not compensate by assuming a higher compressor setting is safe. Recheck the tool manual and every component rating, then consider a shorter run or a correctly specified larger-bore path.
